Communication and Signal Processing Group, which was the first academic group in Taiwan engaged in the research of communication and signal processing, belonged to the Graduate Institute of Electrical Engineering before 1997. Now it has 30 full-time and part-time faculty members. The researches include Wireless Communication, Digital Signal Processing, Optical Communication, and Communication System and Networking.

Communication and Signal Processing Group faculties are specialized in the Modulation of Physical Layer, Coding, Signal Processing (including Equalization, Wavelets, Adaptive Filter Design, Time-Frequency Analysis, Array Antennas Processing, and etc.), network protocols, framework design (including optical communications, wired and wireless network), computer vision, image compression, image processing and analysis, and integration of the Application Layer.

The goal of Communication and Signal Processing Group is to enable students to build a solid fundamental knowledge, and further broaden their knowledge and vision. The research achievements are approved by international awards, such as the Best Paper Award of 2008 IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology and of 2011 GLOBECOM Conference, the Best Research Award of Symposium of Photonic Devices and System Application and the Meritorious Service Award from IEEE Signal Processing Society, etc.
